The Journal of St. Bride Library
12 issues 2006 - 2015
Edited by Simon Loxley
£55
In original pictorial and typographical wrappers, (26x90mm), average page numbers 38,issue numbers 1,3,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,15,16,17,all very good with one small stain on vol. 14,produced by Loxley in conjunction with St. Bride Library – a large and wonderful printing resource in a marvellous building in Bride Lane just off Fleet Street. Originally set up to support the nearby printers and publishers it was used by apprentices as a social area with an inside swimming pool(now boarded over and containing a small theatre) The library is phenomenal.
This journal is a really good publication with fascinating articles ranging from the graphic heritage of Argentinian railways, hand painted signs of Kratie ,reviving the Doves type, fanzines, Whiting & Branston’s compound-plate printing and book reviews.
