First edition, 8vo.(200x135x35mm), original blue cloth, with minor loss at top of spine, neat ownership inscription on front endpapers, numerous plates including folding coloured frontispiece map and many engravings in the text, 36pp at rear of publisher’s list. This copy has a loosely inserted drawing by an unknown hand of Vesuvius, dated 1868 on the reverse of a Baptist meeting card. Very good.
