Of Books of Typographical Interest

Preceded by “Typophily” an essay by Holbrook Jackson

Also a Letter by Francis Metnell and a note by Moira Gibbings

£35

First edition, 8vo. (250x160x10mm.), cream boards, black cloth spine, no. 18 of 100 copies printed on Whatman hand-made paper, very slightly soiled boards, internally very good.

A bibliographical listing of 422 titles from a large variety of printers and publishers from 16th century up to early 20th century including  Aldus Manutius, Chiswick Press, Cranach Press, Lee Priory Press, Strawberry Hill Press, and many many more, famous and not so much. The section on Golden Cockerel Press is introduced by Moira Gibbings.

The second part lists 58 Type/Specimen Books, Manuals, Biographies of printers, etc.

Beautiful crisp deckle edged paper.

I believe this copy is from Jackson’s library, though I cannot prove that.
